How does it work?
At installation you will see a message on the printer display showing either “Used” or “Genuine HP Cartridges Installed”.

This toner cartridge will have a set of instructions, included in the packaging, to walk you through this one-time process on the printer’s home screen to disable a supply setting. The default setting on the printer is set to prompt when a cartridge reaches “Very Low”. By changing this setting to “Continue” the printer will print to end-of-life without any warnings regarding toner levels.

What are the cartridge limitations?
• Users will be able to print the supplies status page, but it will not provide the correct toner levels.
• No “Toner Low” or “Toner Very Low” message will be prompted.
• Cartridge end-of-life will have to be established by faded print.

Q: What will the printer home screen look like after the supplies setting is changed?
A: The home screen will go back to the “Ready” screen.

Q: Will I be able to see how many pages I have remaining to print?
A: No. Due to the supply status page not being available/accurate, you will not be able to track pages remaining.

Q: Will I receive a notification when my toner is low?
A: No. It's best to have a backup toner cartridge available due to this.

Q: Does this toner cartridge have the chip?
A: Yes. A used OEM chip is on the cartridge.
